Client: Belfast Central Mission

Invited to submit proposals for a comprehensive retirement care village near Millisle in County Down on behalf of Belfast Central Mission, the healthcare team developed a concept design for the overall site. Upon completion the scheme would offer a 60 bed nursing and residential dementia (EMI) care home as well as 60 extra care apartments and associated social and leisure facilities on a 6 acre site by the coast.

The design took its inspiration from the site’s beautiful location being situated between the Irish Sea and the green hills of the Ard’s peninsula as well as the natural shape of the land created by this environment.

As this project was the start of the redevelopment for the whole site, it was important for the proposal to reflect the natural beauty of its setting to provide as sense of location as well as a safe and secure place to live.
